Israeli products out of shops

The campaign’s goal is to eliminate Israeli products from Finnish grocery stores and department stores. Our methods include consumer boycotts and feedback/pressure campaigns.

We are particularly focused on demanding the removal of SodaStream and Israeli dates from grocery stores.

What You Can Do

You can participate in the campaign in many ways. Communities and groups can also join to show solidarity with Palestinians and oppose apartheid, genocide, and other human rights violations.

1. Boycott Israeli Products

  • Start by personally boycotting Israeli products. Check the product’s country of origin before purchasing.
  • Review the list of Israeli products sold in Finland. Found an Israeli product not on the list? Send us an email at [email protected].

2. Spread the Word and Encourage Others to Join

  • A successful boycott requires large-scale participation. Talk to your acquaintances and share information about boycotting Israeli products on social media.
  • Print flyers and posters and place them on grocery store bulletin boards.

3. Provide Feedback to Stores

  • Give stores well-reasoned feedback, specifically demanding the removal of SodaStream and Israeli dates from their selection.
    • SodaStream has 15 retailers in Finland according to its website.
    • Israeli dates are sold in many grocery stores.
  • How to Provide Feedback:
    • Speak directly to store employees.
    • Use feedback forms or contact details on the store’s website.
    • Leave feedback on social media.
  • Be Constructive and Polite:
    • Suggest alternative products or share information to make it easier for decision-makers to consider removing Israeli products.

4. Organize a Demonstration or Campaign with Your Community

  • Plan a peaceful demonstration or event to raise awareness about boycotting Israeli products.
  • For example, gather near a store selling Israeli products and distribute flyers.

5. Host Educational and Supportive Events

  • Organize events where those interested in boycotting or the campaign can ask questions and learn more.

Many Israeli companies are complicit in violations of international law. Buying their products supports the oppression of Palestinians. Boycotting Israeli products creates economic pressure to demand that Israel stop committing genocide, apartheid, and other forms of oppression.

Products made in Israel may also contain raw materials sourced from illegal settlements. Country-of-origin labels can be misleading, as materials from illegal settlements may be labeled as Israeli.

Targeted consumer boycotts have led to retailers worldwide removing products from companies that support or benefit from Israel’s violations. Many Israeli export companies have reported that selling their products has become increasingly difficult.

  • SodaStream products are made in Israel, directly supporting Israel’s actions.
  • Palestinian Bedouins were evicted from Naqab to make way for a SodaStream factory.
  • SodaStream has discriminated against and mistreated Palestinian workers.
  • Dates are a significant source of income for Israel, producing over half the world’s medjoul dates.
  • Many dates are grown in illegal settlements. Palestinian workers report that Israeli companies grow, process, and package products in settlements, falsely labeling them as originating from Israel.
  • For instance, Hadiklaim Date Growers Cooperation Ltd, Israel’s largest date exporter, has been caught labeling settlement products as Israeli.
  • Human Rights Watch has documented Palestinian child labor on Hadiklaim’s plantations. Palestinian workers face hazardous conditions without proper safety gear or fair wages.
