Compassion’s Purse: Church Investments and Palestine

The World Council of Churches has called on churches to divest from in companies involved in Israel’s human rights violations. Many churches and congregations around the world have done so. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland is also a member of the World Council of Churches.

Why should this be done? What is the situation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland about this? What is the Church’s relationship to Palestinian rights? Why do people in the Church fear talking about Palestine? How does the Church fulfil its moral responsibility? How can a member of a congregation make a difference?

The discussion will feature Pastor Ramez Ansara, Catholic parish member Salha Hanna, Tapiola vicar Päivi Linnoinen, and Juha Tuohimäki, Director of the Church’s Finance Department. The event will be chaired by Sumud board members Aurora Lemma and Syksy Räsänen.
