Compassion’s Purse: What Is the Church’s Responsibility in the Face of the Oppression of Palestinians?

24 November 2026 18:00
Crypt of Alexander Church, Pyynikin kirkkopuisto, Tampere
Laupeuden kukkaro / Compassion's Purse (Sumud)

What is the situation in Palestine and among Palestinian Christians today? What is the Palestinian Christian
Kairos Document? What is the Church’s responsibility in a time of apartheid and genocide?
What can the Church do to advance Palestinian rights? Why is there fear within the Church of speaking about
Palestine?
How are the Church’s investments connected to this, and what is Sumud’s Purse of Mercy campaign about?
These questions will be discussed at Uskonklubi by Aurora Lemma and Syksy Räsänen, board members of
Sumud – the Finnish Palestine Network.
The event is organised by Uskonklubi, an open, conviction-based and non-denominational forum for religious
and philosophical discussion. Questions are welcome!
