Compassion's Purse election pledge
Organizer: Sumud
This election pledge is intended for candidates in the 2026 parish elections who want to promote ethical investment by the church and justice in Palestine.
The parish elections of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland will be held on 15 November 2026. In the parish elections, elected representatives are chosen to make decisions on matters including parish finances and investments.
If you are a candidate in the parish elections, sign the Compassion’s Purse election pledge:
If I am elected as a parish representative, I will work to ensure that my parish decides not to invest in companies that are complicit in human rights violations in Palestine, investigates whether it has such investments, and divests from them if it does.
We will publish the names of candidates who have signed the election pledge on the campaign website and may also highlight signatories in other campaign communications. This will help voters find candidates who are committed to promoting ethical investment and justice in Palestine.
Would you like to stand as a candidate in the parish elections? Members of the church that are 18 years old or older can stand as candidates until 15 September 2026. Eligibility requirements must be met, meaning the candidate must be a member of the church and confirmed, by 30 October 2026. If you need help, contact us at compassion@sumud.fi.
