At its annual general meeting held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Sumud has elected a new board. Each year, Sumud elects half of its board members for a two-year term. At the June meeting, six new members and a new chair joined the board.

The new board members are Jenna Jauhiainen, Eero Kivistö, Iiris Laisi, Aurora Lemma, Alia Maharzah, and Seija-Leena Salo. They have actively contributed to the cause of Palestine and human rights through various fields such as the arts, trade union activism, student activism, the “Laki Särmään” citizens’ initiative, and Sumud’s social media team.

A new chairperson was also elected during the annual meeting. The role will be taken on by Majed Abusalama, a co-founder of Sumud and former vice chair. The vice chairs for the current term are Syksy Räsänen and Lina Jarallah.

Continuing their board duties from the previous term are also Koko Hubara, Hichem Naami, Hanna Niittymäki, and Alaa Al Tamimi.

Warm congratulations to the new board, and heartfelt thanks to the outgoing board members for their work for Sumud and a free Palestine!
